Welcome to Crown Point

Crown Point Things to Do

Filled with history and beautiful surroundings, Crown Point has an ample amount of things to keep the whole family entertained.

Crown-Point-Courthouse

Explore the Downtown Square

At the center of Crown Point's square sits the Old Lake County Courthouse. The "Grand Old Lady," as it's known, was erected in 1878. It later became known as the "Marriage Mill" since Crown Point required no waiting period for marriage licenses. Many notable people, including Rudolph Valentino and Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali), were married there.

On the second floor of the historic courthouse, wander through the Lake County Historical Society Museum, open May through October, displaying artifacts pertaining to the history of Lake County.

Visit the lower level of the courthouse to browse the mix of interesting shops lining the brick corridors. You can also find many different stores surrounding the courthouse on the square. Make sure to grab a bite to eat while you're downtown! There are plenty of restaurants to choose from.

Right off the square is Bulldog Park which has a splash pad to cool off in during the summer and an ice rink to enjoy in the winter. The park is also home to many of the downtown events.

St. Patrick's Day Crown Point

Entertaining Events

Every Thursday evening in the summer, check out the classic cars in the Crown Point Car Cruise at Bulldog Park. On Saturdays, the Farmers' Market fills the park with foods, crafts and music. At the annual Corn Roast you can eat delectable foods, including hot, buttered corn-on-the-cob and listen to live music. Crown Brewing also hosts their Crown Beer Fest at the park with more than 50 breweries to try.

Around the square, the lively St. Patrick's Day Celebration includes a corned beef and cabbage dinner at the fire station and a nighttime parade with illuminated floats. Celebrate the Fourth of July with Crown Point's hometown parade during the day and fantastic fireworks show at the Lake County Fairgrounds at night.

The Lake County Fairgrounds host a variety of festivals and entertainment throughout the year. In August, the Lake County Fair comes to the fairgrounds. The 10-day fair is filled with carnival rides, horse shows, delicious food, live entertainment, animals and agricultural exhibits. The fairgrounds also are home to the Vintage Tractor & Farm Festival in July.

At Manic Meadery you can taste mead, wine or cider - no flavors or styles are off limits!

Lemon Lake County Park disc golf

More Things to Do

Golfers will enjoy playing the courses at Oak Knoll Golf Club or White Hawk Country Club. If standard golf is not your thing, Lemon Lake County Park has five disc golf championship courses. The park also has hiking trails, a large creative playground, a lake to fish in and picnic areas. The Erie-Lackawanna Trail, which runs from Crown Point to Hammond, is a great trail to take a walk, jog or bike ride.

On cold or rainy days, try some of the indoor things to do in town besides shopping. Play a game of bowling at The Super Bowl, right across the street from Crown Brewing or treat yourself to the finest spa treatments at State of Mind Salon & Day Spa
