Along Lake Michigan's shoreline, Wells Street Beach offers the closest beachfront parking and concession stand. Marquette Park, constructed in the early 1920s, boasts a beautiful pavilion, sand dunes, wetlands, ponds and 1.4 miles of white sand Lake Michigan beaches. The Gary Bathing Beach Aquatorium, built in 1921, serves as a museum honoring the father of flight, Octave Chanute, and the Tuskegee Airmen.
