Gary, Indiana

Gary, located on the South Shore of Lake Michigan, is the second largest city in Lake County. Gary offers many fascinating historical sites and entertainment options in addition to the beautiful Indiana Dunes.

The Indiana Dunes span 25 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline from Gary to Michigan City and offer 45 miles of trails through tranquil forests, intriguing wetlands, expansive prairies, rambling rivers and of course, majestic dunes.

The Gary Bathing Beach Aquatorium, built in 1921, serves as a museum honoring the father of flight, Octave Chanute, and the Tuskegee Airmen. The redeveloped Marquette Park, constructed in the early 1920s, boasts a beautiful pavilion, sand dunes, wetlands, ponds and 1.4 miles of white sand Lake Michigan beaches.

Majestic Star Casino and Hotel offers superior gaming, fine dining and exciting shows. Baseball fans can watch the SouthShore RailCats play minor league ball at the beautiful U.S. Steel Yard. Art lovers will enjoy Lake Street Gallery featuring local artists and craftsmen.

Miller Beach, on Gary's far eastern side, has wonderful restaurants including Miller Bakery Cafe and Miller Pizza. Sample craft beers at 18th Street Brewery.
